New Roots
Phoenix

Grow local, think global

About Us

CamelBackyard is an urban farm and community food hub located in central Phoenix offering raised garden beds, farm plots, and an Aquaponics greenhouse for farmers and gardeners in the community. We are one of two sites managed by the New Roots program. New Roots Phoenix is a food security and agriculture program of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Phoenix, an international aid organization that helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. At New Roots, we utilize agriculture and community to empower those enrolled in our programs to make connections to the land, food and people in Arizona. Learn more about our farm sites.

New Roots CSA

We support refugee, immigrant and local farmers though our produce boxes. Each box is priced at $25 and offers a variety of seasonal produce. We believe everyone should have affordable, fresh, locally grown produce!

New Roots Farm Stand

Every third Saturday of the month from 9am-1pm come support New Roots refugee and immigrant farmers by purchasing fresh local produce from the New Roots Farm Stand at CamelBackyard.
